  Avoiding Service Tips?

  back again!.

  so as i'm still pimo and living under my parent's roof, how can i get out of service?

  cause i really don't want to go and i feel dirty just knowing i could be influencing someone into this garbage..

  Did You Go To Meetings in Very Inclement Weather?

  living in new england means having lots of snow and cold.

  elders were very reluctant to cancel or reschedule a meeting due to the weather.

  i lived 3 towns away from the kingdom hall and if it was icy and treacherous my vote would always be to cancel the meeting....and forget about rescheduling!.

  We cancel meetings at the THREAT of inclement weather.

  Our sister congregation, same KH, jokes at us for the amount of meetings we cancel in a year. Love it.

  Roads are wet and temp going all the way down to 33F. Better cancel.

  I just feel bad when all the DF folks and older ones who don't get the cancellation emails and text messages show up dressed and pressed to a cold and wet locked door.

  i know they are trying to simplify but it all is such a confusing mess.... forms, dates, calculators, committees, logins, publisher record cards.....jesus would barf.

  TO ALL BODIES OF ELDERS Re: Announcements and Reminders Dear Brothers: In an effort to reduce the number of letters sent to all bodies of elders and congregations, most announcements from the branch office will now be conveyed to congregations by means of the Announcements and Reminders (S-147) form. The first part of the form will contain information for the elders only. If there are announcements for the congregation, these will appear on a separate page of the form. Instructions on the form will indicate which announcements are to be read to the congregation and/or posted on the information board when applicable. The Announcements and Reminders form will be released in the “Forms” section of the “Documents” tab on jw.org no more than once a month. When there are no announcements or reminders for a particular month, this will be noted on the jw.org screen. Information containing organizational policy will continue to be released by means of dated letters for ease of reference in Index to Letters for Bodies of Elders (S-22).   Singing todays WT

  the jist was that we all should sing.

  then the first 6 or 8 paragraphs describe how early bible accounts have trained and set aside musicians to do the singing while everyone else listened.. the songs they have put out have no soul, rhythm, or soothing melodies as a whole.

  the old hymns are some real music, even if you don't agree with the "teachings".. there is no admission of poetry using archaic language at times for affect or to add to the rhyme, they have to have everything agree with the grey bible.. anyone speak foreign languages?

  First time in my married life where 3 paragraphs into the WT, my wife leans over and says..."Babe, singing..really...this is retarded. Can we go?" Later she said, "whats next....how to read?" I let her know that reading was already covered at my recent elders school so Im good in that department, but yes, equally retarded.

  Can we go? Hell yeah we can go! She nods to the kids, everyone grabs their coats, I-pads, and Altoid tins and we leave. Went to Wendy's, did some shipping, headed home happy.

  Got no less than 8 text messages between us asking if we were OK. 1 from the WT conductor while he was still on the platform conducting. WTF?

  Wife is coming around slowly but surely. Whoo-Hoo!

  Enjoyed your personal account. As I read through it felt like I was going through my own checklist...Born In elders Son-check, conversations with well grounded non emotional former JW's-check, Lack of confidentiality-check, Creation Book=crap-check.

  I think I'll try to get my wife to sit down with me after kids are in bed and watch the ARC vids as I have only seen snippets thus far.

  i've seen some depressing color schemes at the kingdom and assembly halls in my lifetime, but this one could be the worst.. a family member just sent me an email to tell me she had nice day at the assembly.

  she attached a picture of the stage to show me a friend of hers who had a part.

  other than the platform itself which had cream carpeting it was nothing but various shades of black!

  New "paradise" video preview? "Will you be there?"

  my wife (unstuck) just saw a new 2-3 min video in her ex jw facebook feed, depicting a "paradise" scene preview.. it was complete with aerial shots and slow motion montages, with moving music.. scriptures were quoted across the screen, such as rev 21:3,4. i shazamed the music, and it came from another "worldly" album called "world of dreams.future world music" (you should see the song titles from that album!).

  is it an official wt video, or some private persons production?.

  if it is official, they seem to have once again resorted to desperate emotional manipulation tactics..... anyone else know?

  Perhaps there is a reason the video we watched at the 2015 regional that was more "moving" than most, to this day cannot be found on JW.ORG?

  My guess is that by not buying full rights of a non-jw produced soundtrack they cant mass distribute it on jw.org.
